The Scent of Sunday
Oct 3rd, 2004 by lisa
The perfume of Sunday is sweet. It’s the polar opposite of the stench of Monday, and quite unlike the cool, breezy green scent of Saturday. Sunday is sweet without being heady, and soothing to the soul and mind. Saturday’s scent makes you want to swim in the ocean or run around in a sunny meadow. Sunday’s eases the tension in every muscle of your body, and relaxes you with a smile and a nod.
The other days don’t really have particular scents. They carry on somewhat with the stench of Monday, lessening day by day till Saturday arrives to clear the air. Though sometimes they come fully endowed with perfumes of their own. Wednesday has been known to be endowed with citrus and spice, while Thursday and Friday tend to have a musky or occasionally verdant quality. Tuesday is almost always a lesser version of Monday, though it can have an antiseptic quality, as though attempting to clear away Monday’s foulness.
Sunday is bright with the scent of white flowers, and soft yellows and pinks. It’s never too strong, and when the evening arrives it brings with it night-blooming jasmine on soft breezes. If you breathe deeply of Sunday’s perfume you can find refreshment and peace, and be strengthened to face the week ahead. During the cycle of weeks, Sunday is always just beyond the horizon. You know it’s there, and sometimes that knowledge is exactly what you need to get through the travails and challenges of the average week.
