Cooling Off
Jul 19th, 2006 by lisa
It’s much cooler today, and Siofra and I are enjoying the relief after a two-day heat snap.
My walk home from the post office this morning was so pleasant. I was able to catch a ride into town with Paul, and then only had to walk back home. I ran into one of the library trustees in the Oval and she said that Monday wasn’t so bad in the library but yesterday “was just hell”. We should be open again tomorrow, as scheduled, but the air conditioning will not be on. I’ll be wearing shorts to work again. Oh darn.
I had hoped to get out and take some photos while on my vacation, but it’s just been too hot. Today I’m feeling much too lazy. But there is a concert in Emerson Park this evening and maybe Paul will like to go after dinner. I might take some photos while there. However, he’s been pretty exhausted in the evenings so that may not happen.
I need to buy sandals. I don’t have anything decent to wear in all this heat, and I can’t very well walk long distances in my flip-flops. I found a site called Zappos that offers free shipping ‘both ways’, as they put it. Meaning they ship it to you for free and if you need to exchange anything they will pay for that too. That’s pretty helpful when you’re shopping for shoes, as different shoemakers’ sizes always seem to vary and feet can be notoriously difficult to fit properly. I may just give them a try.
