Back At It
Jul 20th, 2006 by lisa
Well, my first day back at work was horrendous. I think everybody waited till today to return things. As soon as we’d empty the return bin in the desk it would just as quickly be filled. Oh my aching back! There were two carts full of books, movies and cd’s in the middle of our workspace, in the way and impossible to empty quickly enough.
A lot of the patrons were cranky. One woman accused us of ruining her week by being closed. She insists we left her without anything to read and she had no idea we were going to be closed. That is, of course, in spite of signs on every door, a big sign out front on the lawn, an annoucement in the local paper and on our website. She says she ‘didn’t see them’. So of course it’s our fault she didn’t know we were going to be closed.
Well excuse the hell out of me.
At least the roof is fixed and the air conditioner is running again. They did a lot with the space inside, moving things around and creating spaces for quiet reading, research work and giving the teens their very own (bright orange) alcove complete with four gaming computers. I think once things have settle down it’s going to be a lot nicer in the liberry.
Okay, I’m ready for my next vacation now.
