The Great Pumpkin Festival
Oct 7th, 2006 by lisa
Today we walked downtown to the Great Pumpkin Festival.
Last year the weather was awful and it simply poured all weekend. We went to the festival anyway and got soaked. I think it was just Paul and I along with some die-hard locals. This year the weather was beautiful and there was quite a turnout. We walked through the craft fair, stopped in at the library for some baked goods (and to say hi to everybody), had lunch in a local place, wandered around the Oval and took some photos.
My favorite part of the festival is the trebuchet at Railroad Pond. For a dollar you get a chance to hurl a pumpkin at a hapless scarecrow sitting in a boat on the pond. All the little kids were lining up to pull the cord and send their pumpkin flying through the air.
It was much better than last year. I’m glad the weather cooperated this time.
