Playing With Time

Here’s a bit of everyday magic for you to try. When you are feeling rushed, move more slowly. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it works.
I’ve noticed it in my daily activities. When I’m feeling pressed for time I try to speed up. But that only makes time itself seem to go faster, which makes me go faster still, til the point where I can feel time rushing past me at a frightening pace and I know I’ll never catch up. Part of the problem is that I feel pressed for time. I’m not really, but I’m allowing the thought that I might not have enough time to make me feel as though I truly do not have enough time.
As the ‘going faster’ thing did not work, I decided to try the opposite. I’ve been moving slower. Amazingly enough, today I accomplished a lot of things I didn’t think I’d have time for. And I actually had a few moments left over to post this before getting ready for work.
Go figure.
Now if I can just remember this little bit of my own advice the next time I start panicking about not having enough time.

I find that knowing what to do is light years away from actually doing it. The wife and I occasionally go on healthy-eating binges. For weeks we eat healthy, well-balanced meals — and we feel GREAT when we do this. And yet we keep slipping back into our old habits. crazy. . .
This also works when shopping.
