I’m Dreaming of a White Easter

That’s what Paul has been singing all day today.
There was a snow storm last night that dumped about eight inches of snow on everything. It knocked out our power at about 1:30 in the morning. I have no idea when it came back on because the apartment got so cold - our heat is electric - that we fled to Paul’s mom’s house in the early hours. We were able to get a bit of sleep, after a mostly sleepness night at home, and take nice hot showers before returning home in the afternoon. The power was on when we got here, but I understand there are still people in the area doing without. Some may have to wait til Saturday to have their power restored. It’s been pretty tough on a lot of folks.
The storm also left behind a strange beauty. All the trees look as if they have been decorated with frosting. It makes for an eerie and lovely landscape.
So, it’s spring and winter has refused to leave. I had a feeling this might happen while we were experiencing milder conditions during winter. Everything usually balances out. I had stupidly put all my winter stuff away a couple of weeks ago and had to retrieve some of it when it got cold again. Paul says I really shouldn’t put away the winter things til May. He’s right, of course. I guess I’m still getting the hang of weather in new england.

It is truly beautiful. We had an inch on Friday night/Saturday morning . . . temps down in the low 20s, and windy—and last week I was going around in tank tops and sandals! And my fig tree had leaves and tiny figs on it, too; we swathed it in sheets, but I don’t believe it did a bit of good. Another figless year, I’m afraid.
