Lightning Rod

How do you deal with a toxic person? I have a serious problem with one who is in my life right now. This is someone at work, and I know the problem will be solved when I can find other work and leave that place. But till that happens, I need to know how to handle this.
I found a book that might help. It’s at the library so I’ll give it a read and see if it has any advice I can use. My biggest problem is that this toxic person is in a position to give me grief about my job performance, though my work has been consistent for a little over sixth months since my last review. There just isn’t anything I can do to control this, and I can’t exactly walk away from it.
The worst part of this, is that this person seems to have undergone a complete personality change, has become miserable and mean, and has decided to take it all out on me. In short, she has changed from friend into bully, almost overnight.
So, when dealing with this person, I will simply have to be like a lightening rod. A lightning rod absorbs the shock of the lightning strike and then disperses the energy of that shock into the ground through a grid structure. The lightning rod doesn’t hold onto any of the energy, but releases into the earth. I will visualize a lightning rod and use that to idea to diffuse the poisonous energy that this person directs at me. In the meantime, I will plot my escape.
It won’t be hard to replace the income from my present job, but it makes me kinda sad to think that I have to leave it. When I was first hired, I loved this job. It seemed like a dream come true. It’s unfortunate how one person can turn a dream into a nightmare.
It must be time for me to move on.
