Another Example That the World Has Gone Nuts

The first time I have ever encountered the phrase ‘urban art movement’, was when I read this. I don’t know when that nonsense started, but as far as I’m concerned, graffiti is vandalism, plain and simple.
It’s ugly, it’s rude and it spoils the ambiance of any location. When it appears it should be removed or covered as quickly as possible, because it will only encourage other vandals to leave their mark. Graffiti is a form of selfish bravado… a pathetic attempt to feel important without doing anything but making a mess with a can of paint. It lowers expectations in any neighborhood, both that of visitors and residents.
If there are people who love the sight of graffiti (unlike myself), then why doesn’t some enterprising person open galleries in every city for this ‘artwork’? Then it can be created and presented as art, and not as a way to destroy someone else’s property.
…getting down off my soapbox now…

If it truly were art, why do they do their art in the dead of night trying to dodge the police? I mean, if it truly were art they should be proud of their “work” and not be worried about the police.
I’m just saying…
