In the Meantime

The new Harry Potter book will be out next month. I have pre-ordered a copy from Amazon so I can get it the day it’s released. Woot!
But what to do in the meantime?
Well, Paul is finally reading The Half-Blood Prince so he can be caught up. I’m all caught up, thank you. Siofra simply doesn’t care. So that takes care of my family. But what about the rest of you?
If you are already a Harry Potter fan, you probably already know about the Leaky Cauldron and Muggle Net websites.
But what if you’re all caught up on the books, and you’ve already read everything you want on the usual websites?
Well Order of the Phoenix arrives in theaters on July 11th. The trailer looks pretty good. I’m sure the movie won’t be as good as the book. When are they ever? But hopefully it’ll be good enough. Let’s hope so.
What else?
There is a parade magazine quiz that is available in three different levels of difficulty. Veritaserum has a gallery of the book illustrations by Mary GrandPre. Tealin and acciobrain have illustrated (in a somewhat disneyish manner) many of the HP characters for you to peruse. You can find a bunch of puzzles and projects for kids big and small.
And if you’re like me, and have a deep fascination with Severus Snape, there is a whole website devoted just to him. Some people think he’ll actually turn out to be a good guy, y’know. I don’t know and I don’t care. All I know is Alan Rickman plays a very sexy Snape. (Oops, sorry, did I type that out loud? Damn!)
That should keep us all busy.

I just follow the books through the movies myself. The movies have actually been a tad disappointing to me, but I’ll keep on going. To me, the “Lord of the Rings” movies are much more powerful. The “Potter” books must be better than the movies they’ve inspired.
