About. Damn. Time.

Here in my town of Milford, Police Chief Fred Douglas says his department will begin cracking down on unreasonably loud motorcycles and cars.
What took them so long? Maybe this will help reduce some of the noise pollution here in town. Apparently is has something to do with something called ’straight pipes’.
Oddly, while straight pipes are illegal to use, they are not illegal to sell.
What is up with that? I’ve never understood how something can be illegal to own, but not to sell. But this is what really drives me nuts…
Ron Footit, a former Milford Ambulance Director, says aggressive enforcement will make motorcycling less safe. “Loud pipes save lives,” he said. “When you’re riding down the road with loud pipes, people look” and that’s why many law enforcement agencies turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to straight pipes, he said.
I’ve heard this moronic argument before. It’s one of the stupidest freakin’ things I’ve ever heard anyone say. Driving, or riding, safely and responsibly is the best way to save lives. Not deliberately, and illegally, making your bike so loud that you call attention to yourself. That’s just a stupid excuse to be an a**hole.
I hope the police here actually follow through on this. But, of course, until they go after the loud ‘booming’ car stereos as well, they will only have solved half the problem.
But it would be a good start.
