The Princess Bride will always be in my Top Ten. I will always love this movie. Why? Because, no matter how many times I hear the same one-liners, they still make me laugh. The sword fights are cool, the dialog is clever, the performances perfect and the message of “love conquers all” is just as strong as ever, even in these jaded times.
I have the book, and it’s a very good read. There’s lots of stuff in there that’s not in the movie, plenty of asides and unrelated thoughts and musings. The movie sticks to the central plot, and that’s as it should be.
I have so many favorite quotes. You probably already know the obvious ones. Here are a few others that I love:
- Miracle Max: You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
- Vizzini: Am I going mad, or did the word “think” escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic land mass!
- Buttercup: We’ll never survive.
Westley: Nonsense. You’re only saying that because no one ever has. - Inigo Montoya: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
Westley: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die. - Westley: Hear this now: I will always come for you.
Buttercup: But how can you be sure?
Westley: This is true love - you think this happens every day?
What are some of your favorite lines from this, or any other movie? I’d love to know.

You forgot my all time favorite from this movie, Miracle Max’s wife saying, “I’m not a witch! I’m your wife!” I’ve used it often!

I love the title for your site :Chasing Grace. Lovely name! One of my favorite yoga teachers John Friend often talks about opening and allowing grace in. You have a lovely blog, namaste
