Hard at Work

Siofra and I have decided it’s time to start working on jewelry again. Well, it was mostly her idea, and she had some very convincing arguments in favor of reopening the studio and getting back to work. I really couldn’t argue with her.

look mommee, i set it all up fer u, an even started a nu nekliss an everthin.

Don’t these look like tiny grapes? This is lepidolite, and it looks almost good enough to eat.

This is mother of pearl. I love playing with colors and textures. I feel like it’s been years since I’ve worked on anything… oh wait, it has been years… a couple anyway. So I guess it’s about time to get back to it.

Look how organized you are! Oh, and Plato cutters, aren’t those just the best? I love those triangular trays, until you catch a corner with a thread and then they just love to spiiiiinnn the beads all over. Great color on the lepidolite, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it quite so red hued, sure is pretty. You’re really set up, design board, tools, phone, big drink and a fuzzy assistant!
When do we get to see the finished project? Soon, I hope.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I think I’ll email it, instead of posting it here!
Oh, I just look organized.
Yes, I was excited to find that lepidolite at a bead show a couple of years ago. I was amazed at the richness of the color. I think I bought every strand the vendor had.
Here is a photo of the finished necklace. It’s a bit fuzzy, but that’s ’cause it’s still early and I’m still a bit fuzzy myself. I’ll try to get a some better photos later.
