What a cool idea! I found BookMooch yesterday while browsing through writer’s blogs. It’s like a community book swap, but for the web community.
It works on a point system. You list books you’d like to give away, and get points for every book you list. You also receive points for every book you send, as well as for feedback you leave for other users. You can cash in those points to receive books in return. The only cost to you is postage, but as media mail rates are quite reasonable this cost is not prohibitive. You can even create a wishlist, and when a book on your wishlist becomes available it is sent automatically to you.
They even offer a button for your browser toolbar that lets you “lets you use Amazon to find books you want, then get the book for free from BookMooch, instead of paying for the book.”
So I’ll have to start going through all the books I have accumulated and determine which ones are simply gathering dust and, not waiting to be re-read many times, as I like to do with my favorites. I’ve already browsed what they have available and seen many titles I would like to have.

This sounds like a great site, I’ll go check it out. Wouldn’t you know it. In June I did a total clean sweep of my house. I was merciless. My sister and her co-workers do a book exchange at the office, so I gave her four boxes of books to take in for everyone to enjoy. Oh well, I guess I’m just going to have to get some more.
I hope you’re having a lovely day and that you have a wonderful weekend.
