Words, and Why I Love Them
Sep 5th, 2007 by lisa
I’m reading Stephen Fry’s book, The Ode Less Travelled. Actually I’ve only read the Forward so far. But I enjoyed it so much, I forgot it was only the Forward. Anyone who can ‘use their words’ as well as Mr. Fry can, has got my full attention. And he made me laugh out loud more than once. I’m hoping that this book will help me to become a better writer.
My love of language, words and writing goes back as far as I can remember. I was read to, and reading on my own, before I entered Kindergarten. I began writing just as soon as I could properly grasp a pencil in my hand, and form my first crude letters with it.
Why do I love language so much? Here is an example that will help explain why.
This is from A Bit of Fry and Laurie, a show broadcast on the BBC in the early 1990’s. Now I want to buy the DVDs, if they’re available.

The DVDs are on Amazon, they are in my list. I have that book in my list but I never made the connection that it was the same Stephen Fry! cool.
Thanks, Joe! I’m gonna go add it to my wishlist.
“frillions” I’m going to have to remember that one and the book too! That was a great clip!
