The Weekend that Was
Oct 22nd, 2007 by lisa
It was a great weekend for New England sports.
I’m happy to see that the Bruins are doing well… it’s about time. The Patriots remain undefeated… not a surprise.
But the big news for now is that the Sox are going to the World Series. Of course they owe their victory to Paul, Joe and I who were gathered at Joe’s house Saturday night for game six. Aside from consuming much pizza and beer, we worked our special Sox magic. Paul had on his lucky hat. We brought along our Remy and Don bobbleheads to place on top of the teevee, to which Joe added Wally the Green Monster, who has been spotted hiking around New Hampshire lately. I asked for twelve runs, and the Sox complied. But Joe’s kung fu beat mine when he made J.D. Drew hit a grand slam. We were loudly complaining that he was going to blow a bases-loaded opportunity, when Joe said “or he could hit a grand slam”. A second later, he did just that.
Last night was a bit closer, but I think it’s because we didn’t have Wally or Joe to give us that extra power. But they won anyway, and we’ll be hosting the Rockies Wednesday night for game one of the World Series.
