I’d Much Rather Be Napping

I’ve added something to my daily schedule, starting this week. Good old fashioned exercises. Eurgh! You know, leg lifts and sit ups and awful torture like that. I hate exercise. But unfortunately I’ve had to start doing it.
Last weekend I tried on a pair of pants that I used to wear to work. Paul and I had a lunch date, and I wanted to wear something nicer than my sweats. My black pants had felt a bit snug the last time I’d worn them, but this time I couldn’t even close them enough to button them. Oh. Hell. No. I am not going up a size again. In spite of the walking and yoga, I have been gaining weight. Actually while yoga has really helped me to feel more relaxed and poised, it doesn’t do much for weight loss. And while I’ve been walking, I haven’t managed to do it every day. I’ve been lazy, but that’s my default mode. I’m just not one of those people who are naturally active.
So. To my daily yoga, and my walking-when-I-can-manage I’ve added leg lifts, sit ups and waving my tiny weights around to work my arms and shoulders. My only comment is DO NOT WANT.
However, it’s better than not being able to button my pants. It’s also better than having to buy new clothes, which I can’t afford to do right now anyway. Besides I do feel better already. I’ll never be one of those people who are addicted to ‘working out’, but maybe I’ll get used to it. You never know.

You and me both! One of the down sides of getting kind of down for me is that I tend to put on weight because I tend to stop moving and paying attention to what is going into my mouth (like last night’s tasty, fattening, comfort food dish).
Good for you that you’ve added some more exercise to your day. I’m walking with my friend Dennis. I think I’ll follow your lead and add a bit more to my work out. Thanks for the inspiration and the motivation!
