The Third Wish
Dec 28th, 2007 by lisa
In some classic stories, someone is granted three wishes. Quite often the third wish is the one made to undo the mess caused by the first two wishes. That wouldn’t happen to me, because I don’t need three wishes. If given three wishes, I would only use one. What would I wish for? I would wish to be truly happy. That’s it, and that’s all.
A lot of folks are doing a ‘look back’ at the past year. I’d rather not do that, because most of what happened last year is best forgotten. Not that it was all bad, but it’s been a difficult year overall. I’d rather do a ‘look ahead’ into the coming year.
Here are some things we plan on making happen during the coming year.
First, we have both become really quite lazy when it comes to diet and exercise. That is to say, the diet has become atrocious and the exercise nonexistent. Beginning January 2nd, we are giving up junk food and eating better. Once Paul’s new schedule begins in the middle of the month, we will be walking together every morning.
Second, we will be moving out of this apartment and out of Milford. We’ll be living somewhere north, probably in the Concord area, in a house. No more apartments. We will be moving May 31st. That date is firm, now we just have to find someplace to move into.
Third, we are going to be smarter with our budget and work on generating income from alternative sources. Yoga Purrs has had exactly one order since we started it. This is really my fault, as I’ve done nothing with it since creating it. We’ll be working on expanding, improving and advertising. That along with some other ideas we’ve had, will hopefully allow us to work toward a more self-sufficient way of life.
So, instead of three wishes, we have three goals. January will be a bit tough financially because of car issues and Paul’s changing pay schedule. But once we get past that things should settle down. Whatever life throws at us in the coming year, we will remain focused on our current goals and make them happen no matter what.
