Sitting Still
Feb 12th, 2008 by lisa
I want to start writing here again. It seems the hardest part is figuring out what to write about. When I was posting several times a week, the writing sort of just flowed in it’s own rhythm. It was cats, commentary and cooking mostly, with a few memories thrown in for good measure.
What to do? Maybe a recap is in order. Maybe if I treat this like a meeting over coffee with an old friend, that same magic will happen, and all that blathering will turn into real conversation… albeit a one-sided conversation of course.
So, what have I been doing? Well, just ‘getting by’ mostly. Funds have been very dear and we’ve been living on a very tight budget. Thankfully that will be changing, now that Paul has had a raise at work. We’ve got a new budget that actually allows for things that are not strictly dire necessities (Sephora, here I come!). We now have a plan to get caught up financially and save money to move somewhere nice by the end of May.
Siofra is fine. She’s getting a bit older now, and it’s starting to show in her face. She’s getting lighter around her eyes and muzzle. I think she may be getting a bit crankier too, although I hadn’t thought that was possible.
We had a happy New Year’s, although I forgot to watch the Rose Parade. I usually try to do that every year, as it was a tradition for me when I lived in California. Paul had a great birthday. I surprised him with a new video game, and we spent an evening at dinner with friends. The only major disappointment we recently had was when the Patriot’s lost the Superbowl. I think we’ll get over it, however.
Spring will be here soon, and will be a welcome change from this frigid, messy winter that we’ve been having since December.
The other problem I’m having with writing lately, is sitting still long enough to finish. Even just now, as I’m typing, I’m eager to get up and away from this computer and do something else. I don’t really know what my problem is. I just don’t like sitting in front of the computer anymore. But I’ll try. With a little discipline and a little inspiration, I’ll hopefully get back into my rhythm again.

Hi Lisa. I think you have to do what you want to do. Do you WANT to write on this blog? I hope you do, because I enjoy reading it, but maybe the not sitting still is trying to tell you something. On the other hand, you’re probably right and it’s a question of habit. And maybe Spring will put a spring in your writing as well.
By the way, complete change of subject, did you see on Lolcats yesterday there was a real wedding proposal. So cute!
I hope you keep writing! I love seeing what you have put in your blog. It gives me inspiration to keep writing in my blog- which is in serious need of updating. I am sure that if you keep at it your thoughts will just begin to flow!! That and with Spring coming you should be all set!
Cheers!
